Anyone can sell you a screen. The difference between a screen that works for years and one that drags, gaps, or falls out is the installer: how they measure, how they build, and what their quote actually covers. Here is what to check when choosing fly screens in Dubai, and the questions that separate a proper installer from a box-shifter.
The Measurement Visit
A proper installer measures on site before quoting. Every opening is different: frame profiles vary by developer and tower, openings are rarely perfectly square, and the screen type has to match the window type. A quote given without measurements is a guess, and guesses do not fit.
The measurement visit should be free. Ours is. The measurer should walk every room, note each window type, check track profiles on sliding windows, ask about pets, and note which windows face gardens or water. Expect it to take thirty minutes to an hour for a villa, less for an apartment. If someone quotes from photos alone, keep looking.
Made-to-Measure vs Ready-Made
Ready-made screens come in standard sizes from a shop shelf. They fit standard openings adequately and nothing else. Dubai homes are full of non-standard openings: tall balcony doors, wide patio spans, unusual developer profiles. A ready-made screen in a non-standard opening gets bodged in with filler strips and sealant, and the gaps it leaves are exactly where insects enter.
Made-to-measure screens are built to your openings in a workshop. They fit the actual frame, the actual track, and the actual reveal. They cost more than a shelf screen and they work, which is the point. For anything beyond a single standard window, made-to-measure is the right choice.
What a Proper Quote Covers
A proper quote lists every opening: window by window, door by door, with the screen type and mesh specified for each. It states what is included: measurement, manufacture, fitting, and any hardware. It gives a fitting date or a clear lead time from measurement to fitting.
Watch for quotes that price “per screen” without specifying the type. A fixed bathroom screen and a six-metre pleated patio screen are not the same product, and a single per-screen price hides which one you are getting. Itemised quotes are honest quotes.
Questions to Ask
Ask where the screens are made. A local workshop means the installer controls the build quality and can remake a panel that does not fit. Ask what frame material is used: aluminium is the right answer for Dubai. Ask about the mesh options, including finer mesh and pet-resistant mesh, and when each is recommended.
Ask what happens if a screen does not fit on fitting day. A proper installer remakes it. Ask whether they repair existing screens, because an installer who only sells new has an incentive to condemn repairable work. We repair screens made by other companies, including re-meshing and roller replacement.
Red Flags
No site measurement before quoting. A single price for every screen regardless of type. No itemisation. Pressure to decide on the spot. Claims that sound too good: screens do not last forever in Dubai, and anyone promising they will is selling, not advising. Vague answers about where the screens are made or what the frames are.
Also be wary of the cheapest quote by a wide margin. Screen making has real material costs: aluminium, mesh, rollers, hardware, and workshop time. A quote far below the rest is cutting one of those, and you will find out which when the screen fails.
What Good Looks Like
Good looks like this: a free measurement visit, an itemised quote covering every opening, screens made to order in a Dubai workshop, aluminium frames, the right mesh per opening, fitting in a single visit, and an installer who also does repairs. That is the full job, and it is what we do across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah.

FAQ
Should the measurement visit be free?
Yes. Measuring is part of quoting, and quoting is part of selling. Any installer charging for a measurement is charging you for the privilege of being sold to.
How long from measurement to fitting?
It depends on the workshop queue and the number of screens. Made-to-measure takes longer than shelf screens because each panel is built to order. Your installer should give a clear lead time at the quote stage.
Can one installer handle villas and apartments?
Yes, if they do proper site measurements. The skills are the same; the openings differ. We work across both, plus the other emirates.
Do you repair screens you did not install?
Yes. We re-mesh, replace rollers and brush strips, and fix tracks on screens made by other companies. The measurement visit identifies what each screen needs.
How do I book?
