Sliding door flyscreens

Sliding door flyscreens, made to measure.

A sliding door is the opening you use most — and the one mosquitoes use most too. Our sliding door fly screens are made to measure in our Dubai workshop: a framed screen panel that runs in its own track alongside your glass door, so you can slide the glass open, keep the screen closed, and get the breeze without the bites. Every screen is measured, made and fitted by our own team across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

Track types

How a sliding door screen runs: track types.

A sliding screen is only as good as its track. We fit two systems, chosen on the measurement visit:

  • Top-hung — the screen hangs from a track at the head of the door and glides with almost no effort. Nothing is added to the floor track, so there’s no new trip strip and no track to trap sand.
  • Bottom-rolling — the screen runs on wheels in a slim track at the base. The right choice where the head of the frame can’t carry the weight, or where the existing door track layout suits it.

Whichever system your door takes, the screen runs independently of the glass panel — open and close either one, in either order.

Screen

Drag the slider. The screen glides on its own track, independent of the door.

Sealed edges

Sealed edges: brush seals and the bug gap.

Most DIY and ready-made sliding screens fail at the edges: a few millimetres of gap where the screen meets the frame is an open door to a mosquito. Our screens close against brush seals on the meeting edges, which compress against the frame and close the bug gap while still letting the panel slide freely. On the measurement visit we check the existing door’s frame and seals too — if the glass door itself has a worn seal letting insects in, we’ll tell you.

Panels

One panel or two?

  • One panel suits a standard two-panel sliding door: the screen covers the opening side and slides away over the fixed side.
  • Two panels (double screen) suit wide three- and four-panel doors and corner sliders: panels meet in the middle, so a wide opening is fully screened and either side can open.

If your opening is wider than a sliding screen handles well, we’ll say so — a pleated screen is usually the better system there, and we make those in the same workshop. See Pleated Fly Screens.

Apartments

Balcony doors: the apartment priority.

In apartments, the balcony door is the #1 insect entry point — it’s the largest opening, it’s opened most often, and balcony plants and standing water nearby attract mosquitoes. Screening the balcony door first gives the biggest result for the smallest spend, and it’s why we recommend it as the first screen in any flat.

  • Pet-resistant mesh is available for balcony doors — a stronger weave that stands up to cats leaning and dogs pawing at the screen (standard mesh is not pet-proof and we won’t pretend it is).
  • The dust trade-off, honestly: a screen slows dust as well as insects, but a fine mesh on a balcony door will need a rinse more often in shamal season. We’ll show you how — it takes minutes.
  • Building rules: most Dubai buildings allow screens fitted inside the balcony door line because nothing changes the façade. If your building management needs details, we’ll provide the fitting method in writing.
  • Fitting time: a standard balcony door screen is normally fitted in under an hour once made.
Renting?

Rental-friendly fitting.

Renting? A sliding screen can be retrofitted into most existing door tracks or on a slim added track, with no change to the glass door itself. Tell us you’re renting when you book the measurement and we’ll spec the least invasive fitting your door allows — the measurement visit itself takes about 15 minutes.

Buyer’s guide

Before you buy: five decisions.

  • 1. Track type — top-hung vs bottom-rolling (we decide with you, based on your frame).
  • 2. Panels — one or two, from your door layout.
  • 3. Mesh — standard insect mesh, or pet-resistant if animals use the door.
  • 4. Hardware quality — rollers, handles and brush seals are where cheap screens fail first; ours are workshop-grade and replaceable.
  • 5. Who uses the door — toddlers pushing, elderly parents sliding, pets scratching: tell us, and we’ll spec handles and mesh to suit.
Questions

Asked a lot. Answered straight.

Yes. The screen runs in its own track beside your door, so it works with almost any sliding, patio or balcony door in Dubai apartments and villas.

No. Door and screen glide independently. You can open the glass and leave the screen closed, or slide both fully open.

We build double sliding screens for wide openings, with reinforced profiles so large panels stay rigid and glide smoothly.

Yes. The sliding panel lifts out of its track in seconds for a wash, then drops back in.

A heavier door-grade weave. It handles constant sliding and the odd knock far better than standard window mesh.

Frames come powder-coated in standard colours. Tell us your frame colour at the measurement visit and we match it as closely as possible.

Very little. Keep the track free of sand and dust and the panel glides for years. If a roller ever wears out, we replace it.

Call or WhatsApp +971 52 443 2655 with a photo and rough measurements, and we will quote it exactly. The quote is free at the visit.

Usually yes — the screen runs in its own slim track fitted inside or alongside the existing one. We confirm on the free measurement visit before anything is made.

Yes. The panel lifts out of its track for cleaning, and the fitting can be removed at the end of a tenancy.

Wide openings take two meeting panels, and the widest are better served by a pleated screen. We measure first and recommend honestly — we make both systems.

No — the mesh is fine enough to stop mosquitoes and sandflies while letting air through freely. That’s the point of it.
