A pleated fly screen solves the problem no other system handles as well: the wide opening. Instead of sliding across or rolling up, the mesh is folded like a concertina and stacks neatly into a slim frame at one side — so a wide sliding door, a set of French doors or a full bi-fold wall can be screened completely, and opened completely, with nothing left across the doorway. We make every pleated screen to measure in our Dubai workshop and install across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

The mesh is permanently pleated — folded in a zig-zag — and held under light tension by cords running through it. Push the handle bar and the pleats unfold across the opening; push it back and they stack into a slim profile at the side, only a few centimetres deep. There is no spring and no cassette, and the bottom guide is a low flat strip rather than a raised track, so there’s nothing meaningful to step over — one reason pleated screens suit doors used by children, elderly family members and wheelchairs.
The concertina mesh folds flat into the side profile, then pulls back across.
A roller mosquito net fitted on a bedroom window. Pull down for protection, release to roll away.
For openings you walk through fifty times a day, pleated is the screen that gets out of the way.

No panel to slide, no door to swing. Push through and it folds flat.

Folded flat, the stack is centimetres wide at the side. The view stays clear.

Ideal where a hinged screen would hit furniture or walls.

Pull across, push back. The magnetic catch holds it shut.

French doors: a pair of pleated screens, one from each side, meet in the middle — or a single screen pulls across both leaves. Either way the doors open fully and the screen stacks out of sight, keeping the look of the doors intact. This matters on French doors, where a framed sliding screen would cover half the glass permanently.
Bi-fold doors: bi-folds fold the whole wall away, and the screen has to match that span. A pleated screen (single or meeting pair, depending on width) covers the full opening when the doors are open and stacks back to one side when they’re closed — no fixed panel sitting in the middle of your view.
Pleated mesh lasts when it’s treated as a folding system, not a curtain: open and close it by the handle bar (not by grabbing the mesh), vacuum the pleats gently or rinse with a soft shower spray, and keep the bottom guide swept — grit in the guide is what makes a pleated screen feel stiff. If cords fray or mesh tears, the mesh can be replaced in the existing frame — see Fly Screen Repair in Dubai.
The mesh is folded like a concertina. Pull it across the opening to close it, push it back and it folds flat into a slim side profile.
Doors you walk through many times a day: main entrances, balcony doors, kitchen doors. Anywhere a swinging or sliding panel gets in the way.
That is their strength. Pleated screens cover wide openings that fixed or sliding panels handle badly.
The pleated mesh is a tough polyester weave made to fold thousands of times. Keep the bottom track free of grit and it runs smoothly for years.
Often, yes. We replace worn mesh, cords and handles on pleated systems, including ones fitted by other companies.
Frames are powder-coated in standard colours to sit quietly against your door frame. The mesh is typically dark grey.
No. Folded flat, the stack is only a few centimetres wide at the side of the opening. The view stays clear.

Very wide — that’s its purpose. Single panels cover most wide doors; the widest openings take two panels meeting in the middle. We confirm the system on the free measurement visit.
No raised track — pleated screens run on a low flat bottom guide, a few millimetres high. It’s the most step-friendly system we make.
Yes — it’s the system we recommend for bi-folds, because it spans the full opening and stacks to one side. See the bi-fold section above.
Tension cords run through the mesh and keep the pleats even. If a screen ever feels slack, the cords and mesh are serviceable — it doesn’t mean a new screen.
Yes — pleated and concertina describe the same folding mesh. Searchers use both terms; the product is identical.
