Aluminium Door with Mosquito Net: Built-In Guide

Aluminium Door with Mosquito Net: Built-In Guide

Door and Screen, One Frame

An aluminium door with mosquito net built in combines the door and the insect screen into one frame system. Instead of adding a screen track to an existing door, the door is designed from the start with a dedicated channel for the mesh panel. The result looks cleaner, seals better, and operates as one coordinated unit.

This option suits new builds, full door replacements, and major renovations, where the door itself is being made fresh. Our workshop in Dubai builds both the door and the integrated screen. For screen-only retrofits on existing doors, see our sliding door fly screens page.

What Built-In Really Means

In a built-in system, the door frame profile includes a separate groove or track for the screen panel alongside the glass. The screen is not bolted on afterward. It is part of the door’s engineering, so the two panels share alignment, weather seals, and drainage from day one.

Because the screen channel is designed in, there are no adapter tracks, no visible add-on rails, and no gaps where the screen meets the frame awkwardly. The screen panel slides in its own lane exactly as the glass slides in its lane, and both park neatly when open.

Benefits of an Integrated Screen Door

The main benefit is the seal. A screen designed into the frame closes against proper gaskets rather than retrofit brush seals, which gives tighter protection against mosquitoes and dust. The second benefit is appearance. The door reads as one product, with matching profiles and a single color finish across glass panel and screen.

Operation is smoother too. When the track, rollers, and frame are made for each other, the screen glides with less effort and stays aligned longer. There is no mismatch between an old door frame and a new screen track, because they were built together.

Frame Colors and Finishes

Powder-coated aluminium comes in a wide range of colors, and the door and screen share the same finish. White, black, bronze, and grey cover most UAE interiors, and custom colors can be matched to existing joinery or facade requirements.

The finish matters beyond looks. A good powder coat protects the aluminium from corrosion in coastal humidity and keeps the frame looking new for years. This is worth specifying properly in a new build, since the door will be in place for a very long time.

Glass Plus Mesh Combinations

Built-in systems pair the screen with whatever glass the door carries. Clear, tinted, reflective, and double-glazed panels all work, because the screen runs in its own separate channel and never touches the glass. You can have a tinted sliding door for heat control with a full insect screen behind it.

For bedrooms, the combination of blackout curtains inside, tinted glass in the middle, and a mesh screen for night ventilation covers every need. The screen lets you sleep with the door open to the balcony without inviting mosquitoes in.

Installation on New Builds and Renovations

On a new build, the door with its integrated screen is installed during the finishing stage, after tiling and painting. The opening needs to be measured once the surrounding work is complete, because plaster and tile change the final dimensions. We coordinate timing with your contractor so the door arrives when the site is ready.

This coordination is worth getting right. Measure too early and the door may not fit the finished opening. Measure too late and the project waits on the workshop. We usually schedule the measurement as soon as the tiling is done, which leaves enough workshop time to build without holding up the handover.

On renovations where the old door is being replaced, we remove the existing unit, check the opening, and fit the new door with its screen in one visit. The measurement visit is free, and the quote is free at the measurement visit.

If your project involves sliding aluminium doors specifically, our guide to aluminium sliding doors with net panels covers the panel configurations in detail.

FAQ

Can a built-in mosquito net be added to my current door?

Not truly. Built-in means the door frame was made with a screen channel. For existing doors, a retrofit screen panel on a slim track gives the same protection.

Is an integrated screen better than a retrofit?

The seal and appearance are better, yes. But a well-built retrofit screen on correct measurements protects just as well against insects. The integrated option mainly wins on looks and long-term smoothness.

Do built-in screens suit villas and apartments alike?

Yes. They suit any new door installation, from apartment balcony doors to villa patio doors.

What if the mesh tears in a built-in screen?

The mesh panel is removable and can be re-meshed or replaced like any screen panel, without touching the door itself.
