Dubai is hard on fly screens. Sand settles in the tracks, the summer sun cooks the mesh, and a screen that gets slammed daily will eventually tear, sag or jam. Most of the damage we see is repairable, and a repaired screen lasts years when the right parts are used. Our workshop handles fly screen repair in Dubai for villas and apartments across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, from a single torn window screen to a full set of sliding door screens.
This page lists the repairs we do every day: mesh replacement, frame straightening and replacement, rollers and tracks, handles and locks, and the sliding-door mechanisms that take the most abuse. For fly screen repair Dubai residents can book the free measurement visit: we look at every screen, tell you what can be fixed and what should be replaced, and the quote is free at the measurement visit.
Torn, Sagging and Loose Mesh
Mesh is the most common repair we do. Pets claw it, kids push through it, and Dubai’s heat and UV break down cheap mesh until it splits along the fold lines. A small tear in an otherwise sound screen can sometimes be patched, but patches are a stopgap. They look obvious and the mesh around the patch is usually weak too, so the tear keeps spreading. In most cases we recommend re-meshing the whole frame: the old mesh comes out, new fiberglass mesh goes in, and the screen looks and works like new.
Re-meshing also fixes sag. Old screens lose tension and the mesh goes slack, which lets insects slip past the edges even when the frame is closed. Fresh mesh fitted with a new spline cord sits tight and flat, and the seal around the frame is restored.
Bent, Warped and Corroded Frames
Aluminium frames hold up well in the UAE climate, but they are not indestructible. A screen door that has been dropped, forced or bent out of shape will not sit square in its track, and a frame that is out of square will not seal. Minor bends can be straightened at the workshop. Frames that are cracked at the corners or eaten by corrosion near coastal areas need to be replaced, because a repair on a compromised frame will not hold.
When we replace a frame we build it in our Dubai workshop to the exact measurements of your opening. The new frame matches your existing track and hardware, so it slides and closes the way it should. You can read more about the door-specific side of this in our guide to screen door repair, which covers the full range of common door fixes.
Broken Rollers, Tracks and Handles
A sliding screen that needs a shoulder to move has a roller or track problem. Sand is the usual culprit: it packs into the bottom track, chews through the roller wheels and eventually the screen drags or jumps off its track. The fix is straightforward once the screen is on the bench: new rollers matched to the weight of the frame, a cleaned and straightened track, and proper adjustment so the screen glides with one finger.
Handles and locks fail less often but they matter for security screens and for any door you close at night. Snapped pull handles, loose latches and sliding-door locks that no longer catch are all replaceable with standard parts we keep in the workshop.
What Happens at the Repair Visit
The measurement visit is free and it is the same whether you need one screen or twenty. We measure every opening that needs work, check the condition of frames, tracks and hardware, and tell you honestly what we recommend: repair, re-mesh or new build. There is no pressure to replace what can be fixed. Most repairs are done at the workshop and the screens come back fitted and adjusted, so your home is not left open while the work happens.
You can reach us on +971 52 443 2655 or on WhatsApp at https://wa.me/971524432655 to book. We serve Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, and the measurement visit is free in all five emirates.
When a Screen Is Beyond Repair
Sometimes repair is the wrong call. A frame that has been re-bent twice, a screen where every corner joint is cracked, or a sliding mechanism with a track that has rusted through will cost you more in repeat callouts than a new build. We will tell you when that is the case and give you the new-build option on the same visit. Workshop-made screens are built to your exact measurements, so they fit better than off-the-shelf replacements ever will.
FAQ
Can you repair a torn fly screen or does it need replacing?
A torn screen usually does not need a whole new build. If the frame is sound we remove the old mesh and fit new mesh with a fresh spline cord. The screen comes back tight, flat and sealed. Only the frame needs replacing when it is bent beyond straightening or corroded.
How long does fly screen repair take in Dubai?
The measurement visit is free and covers as many screens as you need. Most repairs are finished at the workshop and the screens are refitted in one visit.
Do you repair screens fitted by other companies?
Yes. A large share of our repair work is on screens we did not build. We repair any aluminium fly screen, whatever the original maker, as long as the frame is worth saving.
My sliding screen keeps coming off its track. Can that be fixed?
In most cases yes. The usual causes are worn rollers, a dirty or bent track, or a frame that has gone out of square. We replace the rollers, clean and straighten the track, and re-square the frame at the workshop.
Is the measurement visit really free?
Yes. The visit, the inspection of your screens and the quote are all free. You pay nothing until you approve the work.
